R3,070 SASSA Grant September 2025: Payment schedule for the month of September 2025, with respect to the R3,070 grant, has been announced by SASSA. The payment has come about as a means to assist eligible people and underprivileged homes to meet their daily livelihood needs. This is one of the latest changes under the program through which the South African Social Security Agency aids South Africans facing living costs.
Who is Eligible for the R3,070 Payment?
The R3,070 amount is not a single syndicated grant, but a total that an individual can receive by combining various benefits accordingly. For instance, an elderly person could qualify for an Old Age Grant, a Grant-in-Aid, and additional assistance, adding up to R3,070. Hence eligibility can be based on income limits, age requirements, disability, and proof of need, among other criteria. Beneficiaries must also qualify as South African citizens, permanent residents, or recognised refugees.

Payment Schedule For September 2025
SASSA has stuck with the staggered system of payment to ensure smoother collections and to discourage crowding. For the month of September 2025, first payments for Older Persons Grants will commence on
Tuesday, the 2nd of September; Disability Nominations will then follow on
Wednesday, the 3rd of September; whereas all other grants such as Child Support, Foster Care, and Care Dependency Grants shall be paid, starting from
Thursday, the 4th of September. Payments may be dispensed by
Friday, 5 September, to applicants whose applications are under review or newly approved grants.
Updated Grant Amounts for 2025
We finally know the increase for 2025 to offset inflation and rising living costs by SASSA. Old Age and Disability Grants are currently promoted at
R2,315 per month,
Foster care Grant at
R1,250. The
Child Support Grant went up to
R560, while the
Grant-in-Aid is similarly
R560. Those who receive double grants or combined household assistance could receive or even transcend
R3,070 monthly payments.

Tips for Smooth Payment
Beneficiaries are urged to check their bank details with SASSA in order not to face delays. They are urged not to rush into the collection centers on the first day of payments because the money remains available after the dates. Through the use of retail outlets, operating the ATM, and arranging direct deposit into a bank, such huge queues may be evaded.
