SASSA August 2025 Grant Increase – See Updated Amounts and Dates

This is certainly a positive for millions of South Africans who survive on a stipend; the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has officially announced an increase in grants to be due from August 2025 for all recipients of social grants as well as pay-out dates and new grant values. Such raises have been introduced to ease the rapidly rising cost of living and other financial stresses on individuals.

New SASSA Grant Amounts for August 2025

From August 2025 onwards, an increment is to be observed in all types of monthly SASSA grants. The following is a short overview of the new SASSA grant rates:

• Old Age Grant (60–74 years): Raised from R2,180 to R2,230
• Old Age Grant (75+ years): Increased from R2,200 to R2,250
• Disability Grant: Increased from R2,180 to R2,230
• Child Support Grant: Raised from R530 to R550
• Foster Child Grant: Increased from R1,180 to R1,200
• Care Dependency Grant: Increased from R2,180 to R2,230
• SRD (R350) Grant / SRD (R370) Grant: Remains at R370 after the modest increment of R20 during the year

These new figures indicate that the government remains determined to ease the ordinary person from the bite of increased costs in fuel, foodstuffs, and electricity.

SASSA Payment Dates for August 2025

SASSA has thus also released the Official Payment Schedule for August 2025. There is a specific date for processing and collection provided to each grant to ensure there is not a delay. The SASSA Pay Dates are below:

• Older Person’s Grant: Wednesday, 07 August 2025
• Disability Grant: Thursday, 08 August 2025
• Children’s Grants (including Foster and Care Dependents): Friday, 09 August 2025
• SRD R370 Grant: Will be paid between the 23rd and 30th of August 2025, depending on bank processing

Beneficiaries are warned they need not rush to be first in line to come out and claim their grant; the money will remain idle in their bank accounts until they decide to access it. It is convenient and safe to use a bank account, Postbank card, or through retail outlets like Pick n Pay, Shoprite, Checkers, or Boxer.
